Injuries

Whether you’re dealing with an acute sports injury, a recurring issue, or are in the process of rehabilitation, chiropractic care can offer significant benefits.

I hurt myself at work – can you help?

We specialise in treating a wide range of sports injuries. It’s important to remember that chiropractors are trained to address various joint issues, not just spinal concerns. Sports injuries such as sprains and strains, tendinopathies, bursitis, and impingements can all see improvement with chiropractic care. Our approach focuses on rehabilitation, supplemented by adjustments and other effective modalities. Your clinician will follow specific protocols tailored to each type of sports injury and will provide treatment options that align with your needs and comfort.

Injuries we treat include:

Common sports injuries we treat:

  • Neck sprain/strain or whiplash
  • Rotator cuff syndrome
  • Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)
  • Shoulder bursitis and impingement (SAPS)
  • Tennis elbow (lateral elbow pain)
  • Golfer’s elbow (medial elbow pain)
  • Carpal tunnel (wrist pain)
  • Hip impingement (FAI)
  • Gluteal or hamstring tendinopathy
  • Runner’s knee (Patellofemoral syndrome)
  • Jumper’s knee (patellar tendinopathy)
  • Plantar fasciitis

Treatment of injuries

When it comes to treating acute sports injuries, the initial approach often includes RICE—rest, ice, compression, and elevation. Although ice is generally applied in the first 24 hours, heat may be more beneficial as the injury progresses.

In the clinic, we might use:

  • Mobilisation
  • Active release techniques (ART)
  • Cupping
  • Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation (IASTM)
  • Kinesiotaping
  • Exercise prescription (rehab)

For rehabilitation and strengthening, we use VALD, a platform that offers high-quality, easy-to-follow exercise videos tailored to your specific goals. If your clinician decides to utilise VALD, you will receive a link via email within 48 hours of your appointment. VALD tracks your exercise progress, providing valuable data to your chiropractor about how you are recovering from your sports injury.

By incorporating these treatments and tools, we aim to help you recover efficiently from your sports injury and return to peak performance.
